The Union Public Service Commission (UPSC) recruitment is strictly based on the candidate’s performance in the Civil Services Examination. The Indian Police Service is one of the three most desirable services in India. Here are details: Nationality: A candidate must be a citizen of: A citizen of India, or A subject of Nepal, or A subject of Bhutan, or Required qualification: The candidate must hold a bachelors degree of any of Universities incorporated by an Act of the Central or State Legislature in India The candidate who possesses professional and technical qualification recognised by Government equivalent to the professional and technical degree can also apply. Candidate must have attained the age of 21 years and must not have attained the age of 30 years on 1st August Vision Requirement for IPS Syllabus and Pattern Paper pattern The syllabus and pattern of IPS exam is as follows. It consists of two papers common to all with the following syllabus: General Studies Paper I Maximum marks : 200 Number of Questions : 100 Total Time : 120 minutes (02 hours) Syllabus; SYLLABUS 1. Current events of national and international importance 2. History of India and Indian national movement 3. Indian and World Geography – physical, social, economic geography of India and the world 4. Indian Polity and governance – Constitution, political system, Panchayati Raj, public policy, Rights issues, etc. 5. Economic and social development – sustainable development, poverty, inclusion, demographics, social sector initiatives etc. 6. General issues on environmental ecology, bio-diversity and climate change – that do not require subject specialization 7. General Science General Studies Paper II Maximum marks : 200 Number of Questions : 80 Total Time : 120 minutes (02 hours) SYLLABUS 1. Comprehension 2. Interpersonal skills including communication skills 3. Logical reasoning and analytical ability 4. Decision making and problem solving 5. General mental ability 6. Basic numeracy (numbers and their relations, orders of magnitude etc. – Class X level), Data interpretation (charts, graphs, tables, data sufficiency etc. – Class X level) 7.
