Re: IPS Exam Required Percentage of Marks in Graduation

No minimum Percentage required in Graduation level to apply for Indian police service examination. You have to pass graduation level degree from a well recognized university.

Here I am giving you information about Required Minimum eligibility to apply for Indian Police Service examination organized by UPSC.

Educational Qualification:

You must have a degree from an Indian University or an equivalent qualification from a well recognized university .

Age limit :
-You must have attained the age of 21 years on 1st August of the year of examination and must not have attained 30 years of age on that date.
-The upper age limit will be relaxed by 3 years for OBC candidates and 5 years for SC/ST candidates.

Number of attempts
4 times for general and
7 times for OBC and infinity for Sc/St

Nationality :
1. For IPS, the candidate must be a citizen of India.
a citizen of India, or
a subject of Nepal, or
a subject of Bhutan,


Physical requirement

Height – Male 165 cm & ST (not the SC/ OBC) – 160 cm
Female 150 cm & ST (not SC/ OBC)- 145 cm
Chest – Male Minimum 84 cm. Expansion 5 cm.
Female Min 79 cm expansion 5 cm.

Minimum height requirements are:
For males : 165 cm [160 cm for Pahari males and ST]
For females : 150 cm [145 cm for Pahari females and ST]

Vision Requirement for IPS
Parameters Better eye (corrected vision) Worse eye
Distant vision 6/6 or 6/9 6/12 or 6/9
Near vision J1 J2
Corrections permitted spectacles
Color vision requirements High grade

Ear-
Good listening & normal ear cavity. 1000 to 4000 frequency hearing impairment should not be more than 30 decibels.
Nasal- candidate should not stammer while speaking.

Exam pattern :
IPS Exam consists of total 9 papers based on different topics which are mentioned below:
Paper I: Language Exam
Paper II: General English
Paper III: Essay
Paper IV and V: General Studies
Paper VI, VII, VIII and IX: Optional Subjects

General English
Comprehension
Interpersonal skills including communication skills;
Logical reasoning and analytical ability
Decision making and problem solving
General mental ability
Basic numeracy (numbers and their relations, orders of magnitude, etc) (Class X level), Data interpretation (charts, graphs, tables, data sufficiency etc. — Class X level)
English Language Comprehension skills (Class X level)

Essay

Candidates will have to write two Essays. One topic will relate to Indian Society/politics/ Economy/Development, Growth and relevant phases. The other topic will relate to security and related stuffs.
