The National Educational Testing Bureau of University Grants Commission (UGC) conducts National Eligibility Test (NET) to decide eligibility for lectureship and for award of Junior Research Fellowship (JRF) for Indian nationals.

Eligibility Criteria:
The candidates are required to have score 55 per cent marks in Masters Degree.

The candidates who are in their final year of Masters programme or those whose examinations have been delayed can also apply.

The candidates who hold PhD degree and have completed their Masters degree shall be provided with relaxation of marks up to 5 per cent.

Also, the candidates who have qualified the UGC/CSIR JRF examination need not have to necessarily appear for NET.

Paper pattern:
This entrance examination will be organized for 79 Subjects.
Its exam will be 3 papers for examination, 1st paper will be mandatory for all applicants in this papers have 60 questions & applicants must have to attend 50 question and time will be given 1 hours and 25 minute for the 1st paper.
This exam is total 100 marks. Questions is related to reasoning and mental ability, teaching skills etc .
UGC NET 2nd paper exam pattern will same as 1st paper and 3rd papers will be of applicant’s selecting subjects and this Papers will be contained 75 questions and its have 150 marks, time of exam 2.5 hours.

Education, Social Work, Defense and Strategic Studies,Economics, Political Science, Philosophy, Population Studies,Music, English and Computer Science and Applications.Psychology, Sociology, History, Anthropology, Commerce, Home Science,Public Administration and etc

Central Board of Secondary Education direct National Eligibility Test for determining Assistant Professor only or Junior Research Fellowship & Eligibility for Assistant Professor both in Indian colleges and universities .

Eligibility Criteria:
Aspirants must have obtained 55% marks in Masters Degree from a recognised Universities/Institutions in Social Sciences, Computer Science & Applications, Arts, Electronic Science etc.

Lectureship: There is no upper age limit for applying for lectureship eligibility.

Junior Research Fellowship: The age limit for JRF is 28 years of age.

Students can appear in the subject of their post-graduation only.

Exam Pattern:

The Test will consist of three papers.

Session:- First

•Paper:- I
•Marks:- 100
•Duration:- 1¼ Hours (09.30 A.M. to 10.45 A.M.)
•Number of Question:- 60 out of which 50 question to be attempted

Paper-I test reasoning ability, comprehension, divergent thinking and general awareness of the candidate.

Session:- First
•Paper:- II
•Marks:- 100
•Duration:- 1¼ Hours (10.45 A.M. to 12.00 NOON)
•Number of Question:- 50 questions all are compulsory

Paper-II shall consist of 50 objective type compulsory questions based on the subject selected by the applicant

Session:- Second

•Paper:- III
•Marks:- 150
•Duration:- 2½ Hours (01.30 P.M. to 4.00 P.M.)
•Number of Question:- 75 questions all are compulsory

Paper-III will consist of 75 objective type compulsory questions from the subject selected by the applicant .
