The School of Industrial Fisheries of Cochin University of Science and Technology was established in 1976 as the Department of Industrial Fisheries under the erstwhile University of Cochin for postgraduate teaching and research on all aspects of fisheries science and technology.

The Dept. was elevated to the status of the School under CUSAT since 1995 by recognizing the progress achieved in Teaching, Research and outreach activities in various facets of fisheries.

Courses Offered

M. Sc Industrial Fisheries
Bachelor’s degree in Fisheries/Zoology/Botany with minimum 55% marks in the optional subjects.
Bachelor’s Degree in Fisheries includes Industrial Fisheries/Aquaculture/Fishery Science/ Industrial Fish & Fisheries/ B. F. Sc (Nautical Science).


M. F. Sc Seafood Safety and Trade
Bachelor’s Degree in Fisheries / Food Technology/Food Science/Food Microbiology/ Biochemistry/Zoology with minimum 55% marks in the optional subjects.
Bachelor’s Degree in Fisheries includes Industrial Fisheries/ Aqua-culture/Fishery Science/Industrial Fish and Fisheries/B. F. Sc(Nautical Science) Bachelors Degree in Food Technology/Food Science includes B. Tech/B.E./B. Sc. in Food Science and Technology/Food Science and Management/Food Science/Food Technology/Food Processing Technology/Food Science and Quality Control.


M. Phil Fisheries Science
M. Sc. Degree in Industrial Fisheries/Marine Biology/Zoology/Aquatic Biology and Fisheries/Fishery Biology and Aquaculture/Capture and Culture Fisheries/Aquaculture/M. F. Sc/M. Sc Applied Fisheries and Aquaculture/M. Sc Aquaculture and Fish Processing or any other Post Graduate Degree in Fisheries and allied subjects / Life Sciences / Biotechnology with at least of 55% aggregate marks (or equivalent grade).


Ph. D.
Master’s Degree in relevant subject from a recognized University with 55% marks in the qualifying exam, or a CGPA of 6.0 in the 10 point scale or an equivalent grade in similar scales.
One belonging to SC/ST community is eligible for concession up to 10% marks for admission provided that has a pass in the qualifying exam.


Ph. D.
Master’s Degree in relevant subject from a recognized University with 55% marks in the qualifying exam, or a CGPA of 6.0 in the 10 point scale or an equivalent grade in similar scales.
