The Indira Gandhi National Open University is a distance learning national university located in IGNOU road, Maidan Garhi, New Delhi, India.

It was founded on September 1985

The Bachelor of Education (B.Ed.) Programme of this University aims to develop professionals for special and inclusive education within a broad perspective of education.

These programmes intend to educate and train the aspirants to become agents of change as teaching-professionals by imbibing the required knowledge, skills, and positive attitude.

The following B.Ed. Special Education Programmes are as follows
-B.Ed. Special Education in Hearing Impairment (BEDSEHI)
-B.Ed. Special Education in Mental Retardation (BEDSEMR)
-B.Ed. Special Education in Visual Impairment (BEDSEVI)


Duration: Minimum 2 years, Maximum 5 years

Eligibility Criteria
-The applicant should have a Bachelor's Degree from any UGC recognized University.
-Weightage will be given to the candidates fulfilling any one of the following conditions:
-a) Parent of a child with disability - 10 marks.
-b) Person with disability - 10 marks.
-c) Possess RCI Registration Certificate - 10 marks

Programme Fee:
Rs 20,000 for the entire programme for entrance test qualified candidates only

Application Fee:
Rs. 550 for downloaded application and Rs 500 for cash at counter to be remitted through DD in favour of IGNOU payable at New Delhi.
