The Indian Maritime University (IMU) is a Central University, that was established by an Act of the Indian Parliament. Here I am giving you information about admission in Graduate Marine Engineering course offered by The Indian Maritime University (IMU)

GME Course Eligibility Criteria

You have to passed Graduation in BE (Mechanical) Engineering / Naval Architecture with minimum marks of 50% in final year
Must have minimum 50% marks in English language at 10th or 12th or in Degree Exam.

Must not be more than 28 years old
Should satisfy all health requirements that are necessary to join the merchant navy

For admission you have to pass IMUCET entrance examination organized by university administration .

Indian Maritime University was established in the year 2008 . It has an All- India jurisdiction and the headquarters is at Chennai.

The following existing seven government maritime Training and Research Institutes were merged with IMU:

Marine Engineering and Research Institute, Kolkata

National Maritime Academy, Chennai

Indian Institute of Port Management, Kolkata

Indian Maritime University - Visakhapatnam Campus, (National Ship Design and Research Center)

Marine Engineering and Research Institute, Mumbai

Lal Bahadur Shastri College of Advanced Maritime Studies and Research, Mumbai
T.S. Chanakya, Mumbai

IMU offers the following courses for Marine Engineering:

(1) Post Sea courses inclusive of Marine Engineer Officer’s preparatory courses, Revalidation courses for Marine Engineers, Simulator courses for Marine Engineers.

(2) Pre-sea Courses offered are Post Graduate Diploma in Marine Engineering (1 year), B.Tech Marine Engineering (4 years).

(3)Other allied courses inclusive of STCW Modular courses.
