The Indian Air Force is the air arm of the Indian armed forces. Its the World's 4th largest Air force. It was established on 8 October 1932.
Its primary responsibility is to secure Indian airspace and to conduct aerial warfare during a conflict.

The IAF's motto “Touch the sky with Glory” is from the Bhagavad Gita, where it aims to fight enemies by using air power to defend the nation.

The Motto of Indian Air Force has been taken from eleventh chapter of the Gita, the Discourse given by Lord Krishna to Arjuna on the battlefield of Kurukshetra during the Great War of Mahabharata.
