B.Tech graduates can join Indian Air Force as Flying Officer in Flying Branch and Aeronautical Engineer in Technical Branch. It is through Combined Defence Services Examination (CDSE), Flying (Pilot) Short Service Commission and National Cadet Corps Special one can join Flying Branch. Procedure to join Flying Branch Combined Defence Services Examination (CDSE) – Union Public Service Commission conducts the exam which is only for unmarried men. There are psychological tests, group tests and personal interview for candidates who qualify in the written examination. Selected candidates will be given permanent commission. Age limit is between 19 to 23 years to apply National Cadet Corps Special Entry – The special entry scheme is for the unmarried male who have ‘C’ certificate in NCC Air Wing Senior Division. Selected candidates will be given permanent commission. There is no written exam for this but there will be personal interview which will be conducted by Service Selection Board (SSB). Minimum of 60% score is required for B.Tech course to apply through the scheme. Age limit is between 19 to 23 years to apply Flying (Pilot) Short Service Commission – Both unmarried men and women can apply through the scheme if they have at least 60% marks during their B.Tech course. Age limit is between 19 to 23 years to apply while Commercial Pilot License (CPL) holders can claim an upper age limit up to 25 years. They should qualify in the Air Force Common Admission Test (AFCAT). |
