Current events of national and international importance 2. History of India and Indian national movement 3. Indian and World Geography 4. Indian Polity and governance 5. Economic and social development 6. General issues on environmental ecology, bio-diversity and climate change 7. General Science General Studies Paper II Maximum marks : 200 Number of Questions : 80 Total Time : 120 minutes (02 hours) Syllabus 1. Comprehension 2. Interpersonal skills which include communication skills 3. Logical reasoning & analytical ability 4. Decision making & problem solving 5. General mental ability 6. Basic numeracy 7. English language comprehension skills (Class X level) Exam Pattern: The Preliminary Examination consists of two papers of objective type (multiple-choice questions) carrying a maximum of 400 marks. The Question Papers (Test Booklets) are set in English & Hindi General Studies Paper - I 200 Marks General Studies Paper - II 200 Marks Eligibility Criteria: Nationality: A candidate must be either :— a citizen of India, or a subject of Nepal, or a subject of Bhutan, or a Tibetan refugee who came over to India before 1st January, 1962 with the intention of permanently settling in India, or a person of Indian origin who has migrated from Pakistan, Burma, Sri Lanka, East African countries of Kenya, Uganda, the United Republic of Tanzania, Zambia, Malawi, Zaire, Ethiopia and Vietnam with the intention of permanently settling in India. The preliminary exam comprises of two papers-- - Paper I and Paper II Paper 1 (200 marks) - Duration : Two hrs. Current events of national and international importance Indian Polity and governance – constitution, political system, panchayati raj, public policy, Rights issues, etc. Economic and social development – sustainable development, poverty, inclusion, demographics, social sector initiatives etc. History of India and Indian national movement Indian and World Geography- physical, social, economic geography of India and the world General issues on environmental ecology, bio-diversity and climate change-that donot require subject specialization General science. Paper 2 (200 marks) - Duration : Two hrs.
