To become an Income Tax Officer you need to appear in the Graduate Level Competitive Exam is conduct by Staff Selection Commission (SSC). Here are the details of it:

Nationality:
A candidate must be a citizen of:
A citizen of India, or
A subject of Nepal, or
A subject of Bhutan, or
A Tibetan refugee who came over to India before 1st January, 1962 with the intention of permanently settling in India, or
a person of Indian origin who has migrated from Pakistan, Sri Lanka, Burma, East African countries of Kenya, Uganda, the United Republic of Tanzania, Zambia, Malawi, Zaire, Ethiopia and Vietnam with the intention of permanently settling in India.

Required qualification:
The applicant should have completed bachelor’s degree with good academic record from any recognized university of India………….

Ok, to become an Income Tax Officer you have to appear in Combined graduate level (CGL) exam conducted by the Staff Service Commission (SSC) for the recruitment of candidates in the income tax department.

CGL Eligibility -

Degree from a recognized University or its equivalent.
The candidates must be between 18 years to 27 years.
Age relaxation is available for the candidates belonging to the backward classes.

Selection Process-

Written Test
Oral Test
Physical tests
Interview

Preparation of this Exam-

You must be prepared in topics like
General English
Basic arithmetic
General knowledge etc.

In addition to this, questions will be also asked on topics like General policy, Geography and History.
Subjects like Economics and Scientific Research will also be included.
