I want to become Income Tax Officer so please give me details about the procedure to become an Income Tax Officer?

To become an Income Tax Officer first you have to become Income Tax Inspector or Tax Assistant in Income Tax Department and then you can get promotion to Income Tax Officer Post after qualifying the exam.

To become Income Tax Inspector or Tax Assistant you have to qualify Combined Graduate Level examination followed by personal interview.


Eligibility Criteria:

Educational requirements:
Graduation in any discipline from University/College approved by University Grants Commission (UGC)

Age requirements:
Maximum age limit is 27 years and minimum age limit is 18 years. Upper age relaxation of 3 years is for OBC candidates and 5 years for SC/ST candidates


Exam Pattern:

1. Written Examination Tier I
Duration: 2 hours
Marks: 200
• General Intelligence + Reasoning
• General Awareness
• Numerical Aptitude
• English Comprehension

2. Written Examination Tier II
Duration: 4 hours
• Arithmetical Abilities
• English Language and Comprehension

An income tax officer is someone who deals with income tax matters
concerning the Central Board of Direct Taxes (CBDT). The CBDT is a
department of the Central Government of India

Eligibility :

1) The applicants must be at least 18 years and not more than 27 years at
the time of applying for the exam.

The maximum age limit will be relaxed by 3 years for OBC candidates and 5
years for SC/ST candidates.

2) applicants should be graduated from an university recognized by
University Grant Commission. Graduation could be in any stream.

a)Height :

157.5cm

b)Chest :

81cm ,fully expanded with a minimum expansion of 5 cm

c)Physical Test:

i)Walking:

1600 meters in 15 minutes

ii)Cycling:

8 Km in 30 minutes
