The Institute of Medical Sciences (IMS-BHU) is one of the three institutes of Banaras Hindu University in Varanasi, India

It is residential and co-educational. It admits undergraduate (MBBS) students through the highly selective BHU-PMT entrance examination conducted by BHU in cities across India.

Minimum Eligibility for Admission

MBBS
Qualification:
Passed Intermediate Science/Pre-Medical Course/12 year of 10+2 or equivalent exam with a minimum of 50% marks (40% for SC/ST candidates) in English, Physics, Chemistry and Biology taken together

One appearing in the qualifying exam may also apply.

Age :
Minimum 17 years and maximum 25 years as on 31st December of the year of admission

BAMS

Qualification and age are same as for MBBS.

MD/MS
One who has passed MBBS course recognized by the Medical Council of India and completed one year internship training are eligible to appear in the entrance exam.

One who have already done or doing MD/MS course is not eligible.

MDS
Those who have passed BDS course recognized by the Dental Council of India and completed one year Internship training are eligible to appear in the entrance exam.

MD (Ayurveda)/MS (Ayurveda)
Those who have passed BAMS coursed recognized by CCIM and completed six months House Job (in the case of 5 years BAMS Course) or one year House Job (for 4 ½ years BAMS Course) are eligible to appear in the entrance exam.

One who have passed MBBS course recognized by Medical Council of India and have completed one year internship training are also eligible to appear in the entrance exam for admission under supernumerary category.

D.M./M.Ch.
Admission in it is made through an all India competitive entrance exam conducted by the University. Candidates who have passed the MD/MS exam are eligible to appear in the entrance exam.
