The University Grants Commission conducts National Eligibility Test (NET) for determining the eligibility of Indian nationals for the Eligibility for Assistant Professor only or Junior Research Fellowship (JRF) and Eligibility for Assistant Professor both in Indian universities and colleges.

Important dates:

(i) Start of On-Line Submission of Application Form and Fee deposit through Bank Challan: 22nd July 2014

(ii) Date of Close of deposit of fee (at All stations): 12th August 2014

(iii) Date of close of On-Line submission of Applications (at All stations): 13th August 2014

Last date of receipt of duly completed hard copy of on line application in the Exam Unit: 19th August 2014

Last date of receipt of duly completed hard copy of on line application in the Exam Unit (from remote areas): 25th August 2014

Last date for receipt of written request for change of Exam Centre only on merit basis: 24th September 2014

Tentative date of Publication of list of candidates registered for test on CSIR, HRDG website: 31st October 2014

Last date for accepting of representation about non-registration for this test: 07th November 2014

Issue of e-Admission Certificate to registered candidates: Mid December 2014

University Grants Commission National Eligibility Test UGC NET is taken by UGC twice in a year for determining the eligibility of Indian nationals for the:

Award of Junior Research Fellowships (JRF) and/or
Eligibility for Lectureship in Indian universities and colleges

Eligibility:
Candidates who have already appeared / will be appearing at the qualifying Masters degree (final year) examination and whose result is still awaited OR candidates whose qualifying examinations have been delayed may also apply for UGC-NET exam.

The Aspirants who have secured minimum of 55% marks in Masters Degree OR equivalent examination from a recognised Universities/Institutions in Arts, Social Sciences, Computer Science & Applications, Electronic Science etc are eligible for taking this test.

Important dates:

Last date for applying online and generation of filled bank challan for fee: May 5
Last date of submission of fee through online generated bank challan, at any branch of State Bank of India (SBI): May 7
Last date of taking printout of application form, attendance slip and admit card: May 10
Last date for receiving the printout of online application form: May 15
Examination date: June 29

Council of Scientific and Industrial Research (CSIR) conducts Joint CSIR-UGC NET exams at various centers in India every year. Joint CSIR-UGC NET exam is conducted for Junior Research Fellowship and eligibility for lectureship in core sciences subjects.

Important Dates for NET Exam June 2015

Online application form will be available from: 13th February 2015
Last date for Online Application 12th March 2015
CSIR-UGC NET Exam Date 21st June 2015

Educational Qualification

The candidates must have a BE/B Tech/B Pharma/MBBS/MSc/integrated BS-MS or equivalent degree with at least 55% of marks for Gen and OBC candidates (50% for SC/ST/PH).

Age Limit

For Junior Research Fellowship (JRF): Maximum age is 28 years (there is relaxation in upper age limit for the reserved candidates (SC/ST/OBC) according to norms of Government of India.

For Lectureship: There is no upper age limit for those applying for lectureship.

Paper Pattern

Paper-I shall be of general nature, intended to assess the teaching/research aptitude of the candidate.

Paper-II shall consist of 50 objective type compulsory questions based on the subject selected by the candidate. Each question will carry 2 marks.

Paper-III will consist of 75 objective type compulsory questions from the subject selected by the candidate. Each question will carry 2 marks.

All the questions of Paper -II and Paper -III will be compulsory, covering entire syllabus (including all electives, without options).
