The Indian Institute of Technology Kanpur was established in the year 1959 . It is located at Kalyanpur, Kanpur, Uttar Pradesh, India .

Merit-cum-Means Scholarships for Undergraduate candidates :

For this Parents annual income should be within certain limits (currently,Rs 6.0 Lakhs).

Candidates will receive full tuition waiver, and pocket allowance of Rs 1000 pm for the duration of the program.

Recipients must maintain a minimum CPI of 6.5.

In case CPI falls below 6.5 (but remains above 6.0) then pocket allowance is withdrawn.

For undergraduates (B.Tech, BS, Major-Minor, Major-Major M.Sc.(2 year), M.Sc.-Ph.D. (UG Part))..

Free Basic Messing and Pocket Allowance awarded to SC/ST candidates undertaking Bachelor Program (B.Tech.,Dual, M.Sc (2 year), BS, M.Sc-Ph.D. (UG Part) , Major-Major, Major-Minor) .

Total Merit-cum-means scholarships given by alumni of IIT Kanpur is about 50

Few scholarships are of 3 year duration n Normally, based on merit (minimum CPI should be 8.5)

Most of the scholarships are at the rate of Rs 2000 pm for a duration of 10 months

For that parents annual income must be within certain limits (currently Rs 4.50 Lakhs)

Scholarship details

National prizes for UG and PG students
For the final year UGs, and MTech students the top 7% are chosen from each department

Each year top 7% students of each batch are given notional prizes (includes a certificate and cash prize of Rs 400)

These are merit based prizes and therefore the recipients must have a minimum CPI of 8.5

Sports Scholarships and Prizes

Each year 20 students are given scholarships for their performance in the sports (Rs 500 pm for nine months)

Winners of medals in annual inter IIT sports for winning the Gold, Silver, and Bronze medals respectively meet receive cash prizes of Rs 1500, 1000, and 500.

Awards at the time of Graduation to undergraduates

• President's Gold Medal to the student getting the highest CPI in the graduating class

• Director's Gold Medal to the student for the best all round performance and leadership

• Proficiency Medals to the students for doing the best BTech project work in each department

• General Proficiency Medals to the students getting the highest CPI in each department

• Bhagwani Devi Maheshwari Gold Medal to a girl student for all round performance

• Mars G Fonatana award and Batra Gold Medal to MME students

• Ratan Swarup Memorial prize for the best all round performance

• Sangeeta Pradhan Memorial medal for the best all round performance by an MSc student

• Professor A S R Sai medal to a CE students

• TCS award for the best project in CSE, EE and ME

• Banco Foundation prize for an ME student

• Syngenta Excellence award to MSc Chemistry students

1 DAE (DGFS) (BRNS) (Board of Research in Neuclear Sciences)

M.Tech
Rs. 20,000/- p.m. ,Plus Reimbursement of Tuition Fees paid by students every semester.Plus Education Material Allowance of Rs. 5000/-(one time payment during entire programme). Plus Contingency expenditure of Rs. 25,000/- to each student.
Selection through DAE consent in BARC beginning of 1st Semester
2 AERB (Atomic Energy Regulatory Board)
M.Tech
Rs. 20,000/- p.m. ,Plus reimbursement of total fees paid by the students at the time of admission (one time payment) ,Plus reimbursement of tuition fee every semester ,Plus Book allowance Rs. 5000/- once during the course
Selection through Energy & AERB Consent based on interview of the students at the beginning of 1st Semester
3 MERC (Maharashtra Electricity Regulatory Commission)

M.Tech.
Rs. 8,000/- p.m. ,Plus Tuition fees Rs, 5,000/- per semester ,Plus TA/DA, Report preparation , Contingency during the Course Rs.15,000/- Plus 15% of total for Consumbles, miscellaneous and Contingency Plus DDF.

The various scholarship schemes which are offered by the Indian Institute of Technology, Madras for B.Tech Courses are as mentioned below:

Scholarships and Assistance

B.Tech & Dual Degree

1. Institute Merit-cum-Means Scholarship Parents annual income not exceeding Rs.4,50,000/- Available for 25% of students admitted. Rs.1,000/- p.m. plus exemption from payment of tuition fees per semester for students upto 2007 batch and Rs 25,000/- per semester from 2008 batch onwards. Renewal of scholarship every semester is subject to a minimum GPA of 5.0. in the previous semester.

2. Institute free studentship -do- 10% of students admitted. Exemption from payment of tuition fees Rs.13,500/- per semester for students upto 2007 batch and Rs 25,000/- per semester from 2008 batch onwards. Renewal of scholarship every semester is subject to a minimum GPA of 5.0. in the previous semester.

3. Institute Notional Prize On the basis of rank in the JEE and parents annual income not exceeding Rs.4,50,000/- 7% of students admitted. A notional prize of Rs.1000/- (One time award) and a certificate of merit.

4. Institute SC/ST Scholarship Parents annual income not exceeding Rs.4,50,000/- Free messing (basic menu only) with pocket allowance of Rs.250/- p.m. and exemption of hostel seat rent. (Tuition fee is exempted for all SC/ST students). Renewal of scholarship every semester is subject to a minimum GPA of 5.0. in the previous semester.

5. Girish Ready Scholarship:
1) On the basis of highest JEE rank and parents income not exceeding Rs.5,00,000/-(2 scholarships) Rs.25,000/- per year and the renewal of scholarship in the subsequent years is subject to a minimum GPA of 8. in the previous semester.
2) On the basis of best all round performance in the previous school years and parents annual income not exceeding Rs.5,00,000/- (one scholarship).

6. Indian Womens Association at Bonn Scholarship On the basis of rank in JEE and parents annual income up to 5 lakhs. Rs.1,250/- p.m. to one B.Tech student for 12 months only.

7. Sri V Ranga Raju Memorial scholarship On the basis of Merit cum Means. Parents annual income up to Rs.5 lakhs. When MCM being equal, preference will be given to students from rural areas. Rs.500/- p.m. to one B.Tech student for 4 years. Renewal of scholarship every semester is subject to a minimum GPA of 5.0.

8. Kanchi Kamakoti Jagadguru Sri Chandrasekarendra Saraswathi Endowment Award On the basis of Merit cum Means. Parents annual income up to Rs. 5.5 lakhs One time payment of Rs.2,500/- to one first year B.Tech student.

9. Prof. Narasimhan Fellowship On the basis of academic performance in the previous year. CS students having highest CGPA of (III & IV) and (V & VI) semesters. Rs.500/- p.m. for one student each B.Tech/Dual Degree.

10. M Sankaraiah and M Saradha (Mithigiri) Scholarhsip Students of B.Tech / Dual Degree Electrical Engineering are eligible based on highest CGPA at the end of 4th semester. Rs 20,000/- (one time)

11. Dr K Vasanth Rau Scholarship Based on JEE rank and parental income up to Rs. 5.50 lakhs. (one student for the entire duration of the programme) Rs 25,000/- per annum. Renewable based on GPA of 6.5 and above.
