The Department of Electrical Engineering of Indian Institute of Technology IIT Ropar currently runs three programs, a Bachelors programme with a total intake of forty students per academic year, a Master of Science (Research) program and a Doctoral programme to cater to the ever challenging needs of technical excellence in specialised avenues of Electrical Engineering.

The under graduate programme provides the students with a strong background in the four broad areas of Electrical Engineering, namely, communication technology, control technology, electronics, and power & energy.

B.Tech Admissions-

IIT Ropar currently offers a 4-year B. Tech. programme in Electrical Engineering. The current intake is 40 students per branch. The admission to the course is through the IIT Joint Entrance Examination (JEE).

Ph.D. Admissions-

Eligibility Criteria : Candidates having M.Tech./M.E./M.S. in Electrical engineering or equivalent degree with 60% marks (or 6.5 grade point out of 10) are eligible to apply.
