B. Tech. Biotechnology syllabus:
Cell Biology and Microbiology
1. Eukaryotic and prokaryotic cells, membrane organization, cell organelles, cytoskeletal proteins, cell division.

2. Transport-across cell membranes, cytosolic , nuclear and membrane bound receptors, autocrine, paracrine and endocrine models of actions.

3. Entry of viruses and toxins into cells, cell culture, generation of cell lines, apoptosis, carcinogenesis.

4. Basics of microbial existence, classification & nomenclature, isolation and identification of bacteria, fungi, viruses, structural organization and multiplication of microorganisms.

5. Preservation of food, fermentation, food additives and supplements, nutritional requirements and growth curve, aerobic and anaerobic bioenergetics.

6. Production of primary and secondary metabolites, metabolite genes and functions, biogas and bioremediation, leaching of ores by microorganisms, biofertilizers, biopesticides, biosensors.
