JAM (Joint Admission Test to M.Sc) is for admission to MCA programme at IIT Roorkee which was previously through AIMCET (All India MCA Common Entrance Test). The AIMCET exam conducted by IIT Roorkee is held under the guardianship of MHRD, Government of India. Minimum Education Required: – i) The contenders who are willing to apply for this entrance exam must have passed X Standard with math as one of the subjects. ii) The contenders must also have a Graduation Degree with computer, math, physics, and chemistry as a subject of study. iii) The contenders who are appearing in their final exams can also apply for MCA. Exam Details The entrance test consists of 200 questions to be answered in 3 hours time. Each question shall carry 4 marks for correct answer. For every incorrect answer one mark shall be deducted. The syllabus shall comprise of the following broad areas: • Mathematics (10+2) Level - 100 Questions • Computer Awareness - 40 Questions • Analytical ability & Logical Reasoning - 40 Questions • General Awareness - 20 Questions Syllabus Computer Awareness: Organization of a computer, Structure of instructions in CPU, Computer memory and back-up devices, Binary and hexadecimal representations, multiplication, division, simple arithmetic and 2 complement arithmetic, Integers and fractions, Binary Arithmetic, Boolean algebra, Truth tables, Venn diagrams, Addition, subtraction, floating point representation of numbers. General Awareness: Economic Condition of India Current affairs, Business Scenario and General Knowledge Logical Reasoning and Analytical Reasoning: Decision making, Discrimination, Arithmetical reasoning, Differences, Analogies, Analysis, Arithmetical number series, Judgment, Observation, Relationship concepts, Space visualization, Similarities and Verbal and figure, classification, Problem solving. Mathematics: Vectors, Probability and Statistics, Algebra Calculus, Coordinate Geometry, Differential Calculus, Set Theory, Trigonometry, Linear Programming. |
