The Indian Institute of Technology Madras is an autonomous public engineering and research institution located in Chennai, Tamil Nadu, India. About the IIT Madras The campus is spread over 250 hectares of lush green forest. IIT Madras is situated on Sardar Patel Road and is flanked by Adyar, Taramani and Velachery. The campus is opposite to the Central Leather Research Institute and Anna University. It is midway between the Chennai Airport and Central Railway station. It is well connected by buses and local trains. The campus is around 14 km from the Central Railway station. The Institute in itself is located around 2.5 km inside the campus. Two parallel roads, Bonn Avenue and Delhi avenue, lead you through the residential zone. Facilities Phase I -Infrastructure Overview IITMRP has been planned to have a built-up space of 1.6 million Sq.ft. The First tower with 0.4 million Sq.ft. started functioning from March 2010. Each floor plate is 36,000 Sq.ft and partitioned for 1 to 8 tenants. Dedicated 25,000 Sq.ft of Incubation Area in the First Floor Located prominently with amenities like food court, ATMs and a Transit Accommodation by the Ginger Hotels 100% Power back-up and centralized HVAC and Fiber optic connectivity Salient Features- Phase-II IITMRP Phase-II will have three blocks with a total built up area of 8.2 Lakh Sq.ft Each block will have Ground + 10 Floors A separate Multi Level Car Park (MLCP) with Ground +5 Floors is being built The MLCP can accommodate about 730 cars and 653 Two Wheelers. The following facilities are being planned tyo be accommodated in Phase-II IIT Alumni Industry Interaction Center (IIT AIIC).
