The guest house in the hostel zone is called the Taramani Guest House.

The Indian Institute of Technology, Madras has two guest houses within the campus. The guest house near Admin Building is called the Bose-Einstein Guest House and the guest house in the hostel region is called the Taramani Guest House.

The Taramani Guest House has total 83 rooms. Out of which eighteen are Suites and sixty five are Air-conditioned rooms.

Housed in an impressive double storied building and located at a central place, TGH offers boarding and lodging facilities for the Institute guests and Visitors, newly appointed faculty, staff members, delegates as well as participants attending various Conferences, Seminars, Symposia and Workshops.

Taramani Guest House is operated as a non-profit activity to mostly support the academic and research activity on the campus with a homely atmosphere and ambiance traditionally acclaimed for its vicinity of hygiene and food of homely relish and richness.

Bus transport:

The Institute offers Bus transport to facilitate commuting within the campus. There are 4 regular buses and ten battery-powered vehicles. The buses are named after mountain ranges & peaks in India. The Buses ply to and fro, every 20-30 minutes between the IN-Gate and Gajendra Circle(GC), Hostel Zone and Department Zone.

The last bus leaving the Gate for the Hostel zone is at 10.20 pm
