I have done my 12th in PCM and want to join IIT Kharagpur to pursue my career in engineering but before joining I want to know world ranking of IIT Kharagpur for doing engineering. Can you please provide me the different world ranking given to this IIT Kharagpur for doing engineering degree?

The Indian Institute of Technology Kharagpur (IIT Kharagpur) is a public engineering institution established by the government of India in 1951. It was the first of the IITs to be established, and is recognized as an Institute of National Importance by the Government of India.

Internationally, IIT Kharagpur was ranked 308 in the QS World University Rankings of 2018. The same rankings ranked it 62 in Asia and 24 among BRICS nations.


It was ranked 501-600 in the world by the Times Higher Education World University Rankings of 2018, 60 in Asia and 71 among BRICS & Emerging Economies University Rankings in 2017.


It was ranked 2nd among engineering colleges in India by India Today in 2017, 3rd among engineering colleges by Outlook India and The Week, and fourth among engineering colleges by the National Institutional Ranking Framework (NIRF) in 2018, which also ranked it fifth overall.
