The Indian Institute of Technology Kanpur is a public research college located in Kanpur, Uttar Pradesh. It was declared to be Institute of National Importance by Government of India under IIT Act. It was established in 1959

Department Of Electrical Engineering

The Electrical Engineering Department was one of the first few Departments of IIT Kanpur. The department was established in 1960.

It is currently the largest multidisciplinary Department at IIT Kanpur and covers practically all sub-disciplines under Electrical Power, Electronics and Communications.

The Department offers B.Tech, M.Tech and Ph.D Programmes in Electrical Engineering.

It also conducts a two semester specialized PG diploma program (DIIT) in video communication systems for Doordarshan engineers.
