I want to know the infrastructure and the facilities of Indian Institute of Space Science and Technology IIST campus?

The Indian Institute of Space Science and Technology (IIST) is a government-aided institute and deemed university for the study and research of space science. It is located at Valiamala, Thiruvananthapuram, Kerala. The Institute was established in 2007.

Campus of Indian Institute of Space Science and Technology -

The institute was started functioning at Antennae Training Facility (ATF) campus, under Vikram Sarabhai Space Centre, Thiruvananthapuram (Trivandrum), Kerala.

A state-of-the-art permanent campus is coming up near L\liquid propulsion systems centre in Valiyamala, Thiruvananthapuram with an observatory in the picturesque Ponmudi Hills, Thiruvanathapuram.

Academic Wing-

The institute provides full-fledged infrastructure of international standards to develop an excellent academic and research atmosphere.

The Academic blocks are equipped with spacious lecture halls and well-designed research and curriculum laboratories.

Administrative Wing

Offices of the Director, Deans and Registrar are centrally located in the arc-shaped elegant Administrative block.

All the administrative offices are housed in this block.

Residential Wing

IIST is planned to be a fully residential campus with all facilities.

Presently, the residential wing for the students is complete.

The campus has 11 hostels and two mess halls for the students.

There is a Medical Centre with qualified doctors and nurses which operates 24 x 7.

An ambulance is available in the campus for emergencies.

The campus is self sufficient with a bank, ATM outlet, bookstore, and cafeteria and eatery joints.

IIST offers transport facility for the movement of faculty and staff.

Rain water harvesting is another important initiative at IIST in making the campus eco-friendly.

Ponmudi Campus

The Institute also has its extended campus in Ponmudi hills.

A fully functional Climate observatory is established there.

A lecture complex and a guest house are also in the plan.
