The Indian Institutes of Management (IIMs) are a group of 13 public, self organized institutes of management education in India. The establishment of IIMs had done by the Jawaharlal Nehru. They were established with the objectives of providing quality management education. The IIMs primarily offer postgraduate, doctoral and executive education programmes. IIM CAT 2013: The Common Admission Test (CAT) is conducted by the Indian Institutes of Management (IIM) as a pre-requisite for admission to various management programmes of IIMs. The lists of the IIMs are as given below: IIM Ahmedabad IIM Bangalore IIM Calcutta IIM Indore IIM Kashipur IIM Kozhikode IIM Lucknow IIM Raipur IIM Ranchi IIM Rohtak IIM Shillong IIM Tiruchirappalli IIM Udaipur Here I am giving the detailed description of the IIM CAT 2013: CAT Eligibility: The candidate should have a Bachelor’s Degree, with at least 50% marks or equivalent CGPA [45% in case of the candidates belonging to Scheduled Caste (SC), Scheduled Tribe (ST) and Differently Abled (DA). The candidates appearing for the final year of bachelor’s degree/equivalent qualification examination and those who have completed degree requirements and are awaiting results can also apply. Admission procedure: The admission & registration procedure of the IIM CAT is given in the following attachment, according to year 2012: Selection procedure: The IIM CAT admission process may include Written Ability Test (WAT), Group Discussions (GD) and Personal Interviews (PI). The Performance in CAT2013 examination is an important component in the admission process. The IIMs may use previous academic performance of the candidates, relevant work experience and other similar inputs in short listing and ranking of candidates at various stages of the admission process. The processes, academic cut-offs and the weights allocated to the evaluation parameters may vary across IIMs. IIM CAT Paper pattern: The IIM CAT paper pattern is as given below: The Test duration will be of 2 hours and 20 minutes which means 70 Minutes is allotted to each section. From this year there are only two sections in the exam. The first section is Quantitative Ability & Date Interpretation: the second section is Verbal Ability & Logical Reasoning The time limit for each section is different. The duration of the exam is 140 minutes. The Candidates will be given 70 minutes to answer 30 questions within each section, each section have an on-screen countdown timer. Once the time ends for the first section, students will move to the next section and will not be able to go to previous section. CAT entrance exam is conducted combinely by IIM’s for providing admission in MBA programs of the institutes . Eligibility: Candidate must be a graduate . Candidate must secure minimum of 50% marks or equivalent CGPA (45% in case of SC/ST/DA/PWD) or possess an equivalent qualification recognized by the ministry of HRD, Government of India. Common Admission Test for IIMs (CAT) Exam Pattern: Duration of the examination has been increased to 170 minutes from the existing limit of 140 minutes. Section: Quantitative Ability & Data Interpretation, Verbal Ability & Logical Reasoning 50 questions in each section Test Duration: The actual duration of the test is 2 hours and 15 minutes. Negative Marking: The raw scores will be calculated with +3 marks for every correct answer and –1 for every wrong answer.
