The Regional Centre, Noida was established in the year 2009. The need for having a new regional centre in the NCR was felt in view of growing popularity of various programmes offered by Indira Gandhi National Open University and thereby rising enrolment in RC Delhi-2.

In this backdrop four districts namely: Gautam Budh Nagar (Noida- Greater Noida), Ghaziabad, Meerut & Baghpat of Western UP was carved out of RC Delhi -2 and thus RC Noida Came into being.
