If Medical/ Dental graduates want to join this course then they have to complete their graduation from a Medical/ Dental Institute of India or other countries recognized by the Medical Council of India (MCI) or the Dental Council of India.
Peoples who are graduated in the Indian system of Medicine, Homeopathy, Nursing and Pharmacy also have to complete their course from recognized Council, with three years of hospital experience.

The details of the Hospital Management course offered by the School of Health Science at IGNOU is as follows:

The course offered by School of Health Science at IGNOU is Postgraduate Diploma in Hospital and Health Management (PGDHHM)

Course Details:

The programme fulfils specific needs of middle level administrators in hospital or health care departments. This wide-ranging programme will provide a professional aptitude and an insight in managerial functional for those serving graduates who wish to take up hospital and health administration as a profession. It will also be of direct benefit to those at present engaged in hospital administration at senior levels.

Eligibility Requirements for the Course:

Medical/Dental graduates from a Medical/Dental institute of India or other countries acknowledged by Medical Council of India (MCI) or Dental Council.

OR

Graduates in Indian System of Medicine, Homeopathy, Nursing and Pharmacy acknowledged by the respective Councils with three years of hospital experience.

OR

Applicants holding MBA degree or PG Dip. in Financial, Material or Personnel Management with five years hospital experience

first choice will be given to applicants working in a hospital/health care institution and holding administrative responsibilities.

Selection Procedure for the Course

Those applicants fulfilling the eligibility requirements will be selected on the basis of the criterion laid down by the School of Health Sciences, IGNOU. The criterion for selection will be developed taking into report of hospital experience, years of service and educational qualification. Assortment will be made on Regional Centre/PSC basis. In every Programme Study Centre (PSC) a maximum of 40 students will be admitted. At present PSCs for the curriculum are at Ahmedabad, Bangalore, Kolkata, Chandigarh, Chennai, Cochin, Delhi, Guwahati, Hyderabad, Jaipur, Jammu, Lucknow, Patna, Pune and Srinagar.

Program Fee for the Course:

Course Fee (effective July 2013 Session): Rs. 21,000

Pre-revised fee: Rs. 18,800 / Rs. 15,700/- (Programme fee is inclusive of Registration fee of Rs 100/-)
