The Indian Foreign Service [IFS] is a Central Service in Group A and the premier diplomatic service of our country.

Eligibility:

Age:


You should be between 21 to 30 years of age as on 1 August of the year of examination. Maximum 30 for general category, 33 for OBCs and 35 for SCs/STs .

Educational Qualifications:

You are required to have degree or equivalent qualification from a recognized institute or university

Skills Needed for IFS Officer:

. Good communication and inter-personal skills
. Interest in international relations, expert in global affairs
. Knowledge of your country’s politics, culture and economy
. Analytical skills
. Diplomatic approach to issues
. Decision-making ability
. Leadership quality
. Physical stamina and poise
. Ability to adapt to different environments and cultures (e.g. you might be posted to a mission in a country with limited healthcare facilities)
. Loads of patience
. The polish and intelligence to be aware and respectful of the host country’s culture

Scheme of Exam:

Paper I - General English 300 Marks
Paper II - General Knowledge 300 Marks
Paper III, IV, V & VI - Any two subjects to be selected from the list of optional subjects set out below. Each subject will have two papers. 200 Marks for each paper

Total marks for written examination 1400 Marks

IFS 2016 Date:-

Indian Forest Serevice (Preliminary) Exam. 2016 Through CS(P) Exam. 2016 - 07.08.2016 (SUNDAY)
Indian Forest Service (Main) Exam. 2016 - 12.11.2016 (SATURDAY)
Duration of Exam:- 10 DAYS
