Re: IES selection procedure

IES (Indian Engineering Services) are the civil services for the technical and managerial functions of the Government of India. IES officers are selected by entrance examination called the Engineering Services Examination (ESE) conducted by UPSC.

Engineering graduates in streams following streams can try for the job profile of ‘IES Officer:
• Electrical Engineering
• Mechanical Engineering
• ECE
• Civil Engineering


Selection Procedure:

1. Written Examination

Consists of two papers:
• English and General Awareness
• Optional paper from civil engineering, mechanical engineering, electrical engineering and electronics and telecommunication engineering fields.

2. Interview/Personality Test

Personality test or personal interview is the round conducted for total 200 marks.

3. Physical Fitness

4. Document Verification

Documents required:
• Class Xth and XIIth passing certificate
• Birth Certificate
• Address verification
• Call Letter/ Admit Card for Personal Interview
• Certificate of Eligibility etc

5. Medical Test


You are asking about cut off of IES entrance exam so I would like to inform you that these is no cut off marks for this exam. You do not have to worry about cut off, try your best to get high marks. If you score 450 to 500 then you can expect interview call.
