IES is the abbreviated form of the Indian Engineering Service exam that is directed by the Union Public Service Commission

Exam Pattern:
IES 2014 exam will comprises of two parts i.e. written test of 1000 marks and interview of 200 marks.
600 marks are allotted to objective type questions while 400 marks are alloted to conventional test.

This exam comprises three phases; the first phase is allocated to General Ability paper that constitutes General English and General Studies, each of 200 marks each.

After that there will be two objective technical papers, followed by two conventional technical papers.

For each wrong answer, 1/3rd of the total mark allotted to the question will be deducted.

IES stands for Indian Engineering Service exam that is directed by the Union Public Service Commission

Eligibility
Interested Applicants must be B.Tech/B.E or,passed Sections A and B of the Institution Examinations of the Institution of Engineers (India). or,
Interested Applicants must Obtained a degree/diploma in Engineering from such foreign University/College/Institution and under such conditions as may be recognised by the Government for the purpose from time to time, or
Interested Applicants must Passed Graduate Membership Examination of the Institute of Electronics and Telecommunication Engineers (India); or
Interested Applicants must Passed Associate Membership Examination Parts II and III/Sections A and B of the Aeronautical Society of India; or
Interested Applicants must Passed Graduate Membership Examination of the Institution of Electronics and Radio Engineers, London held after November, 1959

Minimum 21 years and maximum 30 years of Interested applicants are allowed.
Upper age limit of applicants is of 30 years is relaxable upto 35 years in the case of Government Servants of certain categories.

Indian Engineering Services exam is conducted by Union Public Service Commission for recruiting eligible candidate for technical and managerial functions of the Government of India.


Eligibility:
Nationality
Candidate must be
A citizen of India
A citizen of Nepal or a subject of Bhutan
A Talibanee refugee

Educational qualifications:
Candidate must have a bachelor's degree in Engineering (B.E./B.Tech) from a recognized university .

Age limits:

21–30 years

Upper age limit relaxation :

Three years for OBC candidates

Three years in case of Defence Services personnel

Five years for candidates belonging to a Scheduled Caste or a Scheduled Tribe


IES Examination Pattern:

The written examination will comprise two sections:
Section I - objective types questions
Section II – conventional (essay) type questions papers.
Both Sections will cover the entire syllabus of the relevant engineering subject.

Interview for Personality test of selected candidates: 200marks
