Re: ICAR NET Exam Eligibility and passing Criteria

Indian council of Agriculture Research (ICAR) holds ARS NET EXAM for determining eligibility for Lecturer / Assistant Professor in the State Agricultural Universities (SAUs) and other Agricultural Universities (AUs).

Eligibility Criteria

Age Limits---

For National Eligibility Test (NET)
-Must have minimum age of 21 years
-There is no upper age limit for National Eligibility Test

For Agricultural Research Service (ARS)
- Age should be between 21 years and 32 years.
- SC / ST applicants have maximum of 5 years of upper age limit
- Maximum upper age limit is 3 years in case of OBC
- 10 years for physically challenged people
- SC / ST applicants with Ph.D Degree have upper age limit of 40 years, for OBC applicants it is 38 years and for physically challenged it is 45 years
- 5 years for applicants who have temporarily domiciled in Jammu & Kashmir during the period from 01 – 01 – 1980 to 31 – 12 – 1989
- Candidates with Ph.D degree have maximum upper age limit of 35 years.

Nationality---

Indian Citizen
A subject of Nepal
A subject of Bhutan
Indian origin persons who have migrated from Burma, Pakistan, Sri Lanka, or East African countries of Kenya, Uganda, the United Republic of Tanzania, Zambia, Malawi, Zaire, and Ethiopia or from Vietnam with a thought of settling in India permanently.
A Tibetan refugee who came to India with a thought of settling here permanently before 01 – 01 – 1962.
Applicants who come under categories mentioned in point’s b, c, d and e should provide the relevant certificate issued by the Government of India.

Educational Qualification
Must have passed post graduate in the concerned subjects along with defined specialization.

Minimum marks required for qualifying ICAR-NET Exam:

SC/ST/Physically challenged Person - 50%
General/OBC - 60%

NET/ Preliminary ARS Exam Pattern

For Preliminary – ARS / NET Examination:

Total Time: 2 hours
Total Marks:150
Each question carries one mark
150 objective type multiple choice questions (MCQ)

For ARS – Main Examination (Subjective type):

Only for those candidates who pass the Prelim ARS Examination will be evaluated
Total Time: 3 hours
Total Marks: 240

The questions from each discipline will be subjective with expectations of descriptive answers. The ARS –Main Examination shall be conducted in the disciplines selected.

The paper shall be divided in three parts A, B and C.
-All questions in part -A and B will be compulsory.
-Part A will consist of 40 questions of 2 marks each. (40 x 2 = 80 Marks).
-Part B will have 20 questions of 5 marks each requiring one or two paragraphs and/or graphic explanation. (20 x 5 = 100 Marks).
-Part C will have 6 essay type or descriptive type questions which are all compulsory. Each question will carry 10 marks and may have two or more parts. (6 x 10 = 60 Marks).

Viva – Voce:
Only for those who have qualified ARS MAIN Subjective type Examination.
Total Marks: 60
