The Himachal Pradesh University was founded on July 22, 1970. Institute of Integrated Himalayan Studies, Himachal Pradesh University is playing a vital role in documenting, fostering, nurturing and improving various academic, research and development programmes based on its mandate. 1. Eligibility Minimum qualifications for admission to MBA (Rural Development) are Bachelor Degree (BA, B. Sc., BBA, B. Tech, BCA) under 10+2+3 pattern of education in any discipline or its equivalent from any Institute/ University recognized by the HPU, Shimla/ UGC, New Delhi with minimum 50% (45% in case of SC/ST) marks in aggregate. 2. Number of Seats: 50 (Subsidized = 15 and Non-Subsidized =35) +One Supernumerary seat each for Single Girl Child & One for Kashmiri Migrant 3. Basis of Admission The admission is on the basis of merit as determined by the marks obtained by one in the qualifying exams. However, if the number of applicants is five times the number of seats, the Institute will conduct an entrance examination. The maximum age limit for the course is 26 years for boys and 28 years for girl students on 1st July of the year concerned. In case of Scheduled Caste/Tribe, the upper age limit will be raised by three years (for boys and girls). In this case the entrance test is conducted by the Institute; it will be followed group discussion and personal interview of the candidate conducted by the committee comprising external and internal experts under the chairmanship of course coordinator. The entrance test would test on common general knowledge and mathematical ability of the students. A brief description and knowledge based on rural development would also be tested to find out whether the candidate is really interested a tough work likes rural development. The entrance test is the firsts screening stage. The next is the group discussion and interview is the final stage for selection. However, the entrance test shall be open to all. The entrance test will consist of 100 multiple-choice questions of interdisciplinary nature carrying half mark each. Weight age will be given to the marks at matric, 10+2 level and Graduation, entrance test and personal interview and group discussion will be as follows: a. Matric- 10% of the marks obtained b. 10+2- 10% of the marks obtained c. Graduation-10% of the marks obtained d. Entrance Test-marks obtained (out of maximum of 50) e. Group Discussion- marks obtained (out of maximum of 10) f. Personal Interview-marks obtained (out of maximum of 10) Total maximum marks: 100 Combined merit so formed will be the basis of admission |
