The Indian Institute of Technology Madras campus is located on the Sardar Patel Road, midway between the Raj Bhavan and Adyar bus terminus and is around 12 km from Chennai Central Railway Station.

Other landmarks include the Guindy Snake Park near the IIT main gate and the Central Leather Reasearch Institute (CLRI) campus opposite the IIT campus.

How to Reach -

The following are the ways to reach IIT Madras from railway stations (Central & Egmore) and Chennai Mofussil Bus Terminus (CMBT):

From Chennai Central -

You can reach Saidapet by bus and from there you can travel by bus that goes to Adyar.

You get down at CLRI Bus stop which is opposite to IIT Main Gate.

You can also reach Adyar Signal by bus and from there you can reach IIT Main Gate.

Local Train

You can walk down to Park Railway Station which is opposite to the Central Station and take a MRTS (local) train to reach Kasturba Nagar (Adayar) and reach the campus from there by walk.

Chennai-Egmore

If you arrive at the Chennai Egmore station, you can take 23C to IIT/ CLRI bus stop.

From Bus Terminus

If you are traveling by bus all along from your town and reach Koyambedu, commonly known as CMBT, from CMBT, you can come to institute by taking city bus T70 or by Call-Taxi or Auto.
