As you want to know that preparation for Excise and Taxation Exam so here I am giving you some tips for doing preparation:

You should maintain a time table for doing studies.

You should solve last year question papers.

You should do revision again and again.

You should do study according to pattern of exam.

You should do study according to syllabus.

I am giving you syllabus for this exam:
1) English Language Proficiency -- 25 Questions

This section is designed to test the language abilities and understanding of English grammar. Questions are asked mainly from the following categories.

(ii) Procedure regarding issue of notices, including summons, under different sections of the Income
Tax Act, 1961
(iii) In-depth understanding of procedures of collection and Recovery of Taxes under the Income Tax
Act, 1961
(iv) Procedure regarding granting of refunds.
(v) Periodical statistical reports.
(vi) Expenditure and Revenue Budget.
(vii) In-depth understanding of procedures of search & seizure & survey under the Income Tax Act.
(viii) Procedure regarding A appeals and Revision.
(ix) Internal Audit & Revenue Audit.
(x) Central action plan & scrutiny guidelines issued by the CBDT from time to time relevant to the
financial year immediately preceding the financial year in which the examination is being
conducted.
(xi) Procedure for reopening assessments under the Income Tax Act. And Wealth Tax Act.
(xii) Time limitations for finalization if assessments and penalty proceedings under the Income Tax Act
and wealth Act.
