The English Section of Bank Exams is meant to check a candidate’s reading skills, communication skills, understanding of basic concepts of English, like grammar, vocabulary, etc. following are some tips which will help you in cracking the examination:

Pay attention to the grammatical mistakes
You should make a habit of reading English newspaper on a regular basis
Reading newspapers also helps in improving vocabulary;
You must learn the correct usage of grammar and basic of English language.
Sentence formation should be correct and clear
Avoid the spelling mistakes.
Listen to English news and practice speaking in English.

For the bank exam and preparation for English section keep concentrate in your vocabulary and improve your reading speed. And you need to read daily news paper for better result.

There will be 30 questions in the English Section of IBPS PO Prelims Exam with questions from sub section divided as follows:
Reading Comprehension 10
Cloze Test 5
Sentence Correction 5
Spot the error 5
Fill in the blanks 5
Para jumbles 5

You should keep need to Skills required performing well in English Language section

Vocabulary - if you don't know the meaning of few basic words then you won't be able to read and analyse a paragraph properly.
Reading speed - You have limited time so to score more you have to read quickly.
Common sense - Yes you heard it right. You need common sense to find errors in a sentence.
