There is not particular engineering specialization required to become Custom Officer, so you can do engineering in any specialization to become Custom Officer or graduation in any stream. Custom Officer Eligibility: The applicant should have a graduation from a recognized university. Age limit The candidate must be between 21-30 years of age. Selection procedure: Selection is based on following steps: Civil Service Aptitude Test (CSAT) Civil Services Main Examination Personality Test Exam pattern Civil Service Aptitude Test consists of two papers. Each paper carries a maximum of 200 marks. Questions are objective type. The syllabus includes subjects like Current Events of National and International, History of India, Geography, Economic and Social Development, General issues on Environmental Ecology, General Science, Logical Reasoning and Analytical Ability and English Language Comprehension skills Once you qualify the Civil Service Aptitude Test, you are eligible to take the Main Examination. Civil Services Main Examination consists of nine papers. All the papers are of descriptive type. These papers are intended to assess the overall intellectual abilities and knowledge of the candidates. The Personality Test is an interview conducted to assess the candidate's personality in terms of his intelligence, abilities, traits and values. |

In order to become a Customs Officer, candidates have to appear for the Civil Services Examination. Directed by the Union Public Service Commission. Civil Services Examination offers entry into 27 different services which includes the Indian Customs & Central Excise Services. The Exam is conducted in two separate parts. They are the Preliminary and Main Exam. Applicants selected are either sent to Chennai for training in the functions of Customs Department or Applicants selected for Central Excise Service training is done in one of the metropolitan cities. Eligibility Criteria A Bachelor’s degree is the basic qualification with 55% of marks . • Age limit- 18 years old • Indian citizenship • Have reliable transportation • Must possess a Vehicle license • Ability to work flexible schedules • Should never have used drugs of any kind • Must pass an extensive background check • Must be able to successfully complete all training required for the desired position • Display an aptitude to cooperate genially and communicate with the community • Must be able to activate a radio or telephone equipment and console monitors To prepare for the UPSC exams, applicants needs to be aware of all the current affairs. Reading of newspapers regularly will be of help. Applicants must have good knowledge in English, G.K, and basic Mathematics etc followed by the selection and interview. |
