IT Graduate Eligible For IES Exam

Can a IT graduate is eligible for the IES (Indian Engineering Service) Exam or not ?

Yes, you are eligible to appear in IES exam conducted by UPSC. All Engineering candidates can apply for IES exam. but there is no separate IT stream in IES. You have to give exam in one of the following streams given below:

1) Civil
2) Mechanical
3)Electrical
4)Electronics

Eligibility Criteria:
Applicants must be an Indian citizen.
Applicants must have BE or B. Tech degree in any branch from recognized university or its equivalent.
Final year Applicants of engineering can also apply for IES exam.
Applicants must attain the age of 21 years but not more than 30 years.
There is age relaxation in age for SC/ST and OBC
OBC age limit 21 to 33 years
SC/ST age limit 21 to 35 years

Generally this exam is held in June month of every year. Notification will be issued in March month . And you will have one month time to apply for the exam.
The scheme of the exam is as follows
The paper includes both objective multiple choice type and conventional essay type papers
Section -A (objective type)
Three papers (general ability, 2 papers on respective stream ie civil,mechanical,Electrical or Electronics)
Section -B (essay type)
Two papers from the respective stream.
