GP Rating Query

Hi,

I would like to have your opinion regarding GP Rating.

I did my GP Rating course from Thailand in 2010 unaware about the fact that it is of no use. I got the Thai and Liberian CDC. I didn’t sailed and in 2012 after taking some advice from my brother in law who is currently second mate I did GP Rating from India.

I now have an Indian CDC and did my course from SAMS Chennai for GP Rating. I have done 12th but in commerce. After 2 years I finally found an agent who is RPSL registered and my few friends are sailing with this company and seems to be a genuine guy. He is charging some money as no company allows fresher onboard. He offers ships in Malaysia and gulf.

If I go for sailing now for 9 months, how can I pursue my career forward for 3rd mate or 2nd mate? I would like to go to deck side only.

I am 27 years old and feel like if I wait further this might put a permanent hold to my career in Merchant Navy.

I would really appreciate your advice!
