For selection to any of the Government jobs after doing civil engineering you have to appear for an Entrance Exam which is conducted by the UPSC (Union Public Service Commission).

The job of a civil engineer is to plan, design and involve in the constructional activities of various public works such as buildings, dams, tunnels, sewage systems, bridges and many. It is considered as a dignified profession in India.

As you are a Civil engineer, the best for you is to appear for the IES exam or the Indian Engineering Service Exam.

After successfully clearing the IES exam in category I or civil Engineering, you are eligible for the following jobs in the Government of India:

• Indian Railway Stores Service (Civil Engineering Posts)
• Central Engineering Service
• Military Engineer Services (IDSE-Building and Roads Cadre)

• Central Water Engineering Service (Civil Engineering Posts)
• Assistant Executive Engineer (Civil) in P & T Building Works (Group `A') Service
• Central Engineering Service (Roads), Group `A';
• Assistant Executive Engineer (Civil) in Border Roads Engineering Service Group `A'
• Indian Ordnance Factories Service (Engineering Branch)

Jobs in Government Sector

The government sector provides many job opportunities for the civil engineers.
Various exams are organized by UPSC for this recruitment.
Any B.Tech graduate can apply for various exams like IAS, IPS, IES and so on.
The state government also organizes many exams for the recruitment for graduates in the State.
The qualified candidates are posted in various roles like assistant engineers, executive engineers, supervisors, etc.
