GNFC Gas Leakage Incident At Bharuch(2014)


Gujarat Narmada Valley Fertilizers Limited (GNFC) has lodged an FIR at Dahej
police station against officials of technology provider M/s IBI Chematur Limited,

They were declaring them responsible for the leakage of phosgene gas on January 9 from the recently set up Toluene Di- Isocyanate (TDI) plant at Rahiad village near Dahej.


Out comes of the Incident

The leakage from the general purpose tank no. 38012 at the plant affected the health
of 21 employees, who had to be hospitalized.

One worker was critical at Sterling Hospital at Vadodara even as others have been
declared out of danger, police sources said.

GNFC management had lodged the FIR on January 13.

Named in the FIR

IBI Chematur's managing director Dinesh Shah,executive director Manoj Shah, chief executive officer Parsimons, project directorRony Ackliyet, Wrolf Jhonson, Peter Pollision, Daniel Korea, V K Sood and a fewother officials.

Ghanshyam Maharaja, TDI plant additional general manager GNFC, who lodged the
FIR, alleged in his complaint that the technology provider officials were responsible
for negligence, breach of trust and failure to fulfill obligations of the contract which
assured them safety, supervision and training to the public sector unit employees at
the Rahiad plant.
