B more assiduously than any other former president.
C with an assiduousness unmatched by any former president.
D with more assiduousness than did any other former president.

Critical Reasoning
When the state of Tennessee passed a law prohibiting the teaching of the theory of evolution in its public schools, leaders of the American Civil Liberties Union (ACLU) persuaded John T. Scopes, a teacher in Dayton, Tennessee, to teach evolution in his classroom in order to test the law in court. However, because Scopes did not break the law on his own initiative, he should never have been brought to trial. 1. Which of the following is an assumption underlying the conclusion of the passage above? A Those who commit crimes at the suggestion of others should not be held responsible for their actions.
B Both Scopes and the ACLU leaders should have been tried for breaking the law.
C The ACLU leaders, rather than Scopes, should have been brought to trial.
D Groups like the ACLU should not encourage criminal activities as a means of testing laws.

Math Multiple-Choice
1. For which n is the remainder largest when the number 817,380 is divided by n? A 4
B 5
C 6
D 8
E 9

Data Sufficiency
1. If x is an odd integer, is y an odd integer? (1) The average of x and y is odd. (2) The average of x, y, and (y + 1) is an integer. A Statement (1) is, by itself, enough to enable you to answer the question, but statement (2) is not enough.
B Statement (1) is not enough, by itself, to answer the question, but statement (2) is enough.
C Combining statements (1) and (2) provides enough information to answer the question.
D Either statement, by itself, provides enough information to answer the question.
E Neither statement contains sufficient data to answer the question.

Quantitative question #1 (Problem solving)
If r•s≠0, then what is the value of r/s + s/r?
(1) r•s=8
(2) r/s=2
A. statement (1) ALONE is sufficient, but statement (2) alone is not sufficient to answer the question asked;
B. statement (2) ALONE is sufficient, but statement (1) alone is not sufficient to answer the question asked;
C. BOTH statements (1) and (2) TOGETHER are sufficient to answer the question asked, but NEITHER statement ALONE is sufficient to answer the question asked;
D. EACH statement ALONE is sufficient to answer the question asked;
E. Statements (1) and (2) TOGETHER are NOT sufficient to answer the question asked, and additional data specific to the problem are needed.
Explanation of correct answer (B):
Stat. (1) provides the denominator of the combined fraction. However, you’re still missing the values of s2 and r2, so Stat. (1)->IS->BCE.
Stat. (2): if r/s = 2, then the reciprocal s/r must equal the reciprocal of 2: 1/2. Therefore, this is a single value for the sum of the fractions, so Stat. (2)->S->B.

Verbal Question 1. (Sentence correction)
Matthew Barney is one of the contemporary artists that uses digital media whereas Brett Whitely, a painter and sculptor from Australia, uses traditional methods.
A. uses digital media whereas Brett Whitely, a painter and sculptor from Australia, uses traditional methods.
B. uses digital media while the Australian painter and sculptor Brett Whitely uses traditional methods.
C. use digital media whereas Brett Whitely, a painter and sculptor from Australia, use traditional methods.
D. use digital media whereas Brett Whitely, a painter and sculptor from Australia, uses traditional methods.
E. use digital media, while Brett Whitely, a painter and sculptor from Australia, uses the methods that are traditional.
Explanation of correct answer (D):
This answer choice corrects the original Relative Clause error by matching the plural verb use to the plural subject contemporary artists.

Verbal question – Critical reasoning
Since Java coffee shop began advertising on the local radio station 3 months ago, its business volume has increased by 15%. In order to increase its business volume, Java’s next door competitor, Kahva, should also start advertising on the local radio station.
Which of the following most weakens the argument’s conclusion?
A. Kahva’s number of customers went down 15% last year.
B. Of the 9 coffee shops that advertised on the local radio, only Java’s business increased.
C. 78% of the businesses that advertise on the local radio report an increase in business volume.
D. The local radio station has over 10,000 listeners.
E. The local radio station dedicates 15% of its air time to commercials.
Explanation of correct answer (B):
This answer choice weakens the argument’s second assumption that the example of Java’s case is something that may apply to all coffee shops that advertise. It does so by stating that the success rate of radio commercials for coffee shops is 1 out of 12.
