The Graduate Management Admission Test (GMAT) is a computer adaptive test (CAT) that measures the certain analytical, writing, quantitative, verbal, and reading skills in written English of young aspirants for use in admission to a graduate management program, such as an MBA.

GMAT 2016 Exam Pattern

The Test mainly comprises of four sections:

Analytical writing assessment
Integrated reasoning
Quantitative section
Verbal section

The total time of the exam is Four(4) hours including the breaks.

The actual test time is Three and half hour (3.5 Hours).

Section Duration and number of questions
Analytical writing assessment (30 minutes)(N/A)
Integrated reasoning (30 minutes)(12 questions)
Quantitative (75 minutes)(37 questions)
Verbal (75 minutes)(41 questions)

The first section (analytical writing assessment) will have to be completed in 30 minutes and the next part (integrated reasoning section)which contains Twelve Questions has an allotment of 30 Minutes.

The rest two parts have been allotted a total time of 150 Minutes that is 75 minutes for the 37 questions of a Quantitative section and 75 minutes for the 41 questions of the verbal sections.

GMAT Syllabus

The test has three distinct sections:

1. Analytical Writing Ability (AWA)

Analysis of an Argument

2. Integrated Reasoning

Graphic interpretation
Multiple-source reasoning
Table analysis and
Two-part analysis.

3. Quantitative: The Quantitative section has two types of questions:

Problem Solving and
Data Sufficiency mingled throughout the section.

4. Verbal:-The Verbal Section has three types of questions:-

Sentence Correction
Critical Reasoning and
Reading Comprehension
