The Graduate Aptitude Test in Engineering (GATE) is an all-India examination that primarily tests the comprehensive understanding of various undergraduate subjects in engineering and science.

Eligibility Critertia :

Bachelor’s degree holders in Engineering/ Technology/ Architecture (4 years after 10+2/ Post-B.Sc./ Post-Diploma) and those who are in the final year of such programs.
Master’s degree holders in any branch of Science/ Mathematics/ Statistics/ Computer Applications or equivalent and those who are in the final year of such programs.

Candidates in the second or higher year of Four-year integrated master's degree programs (Post-B.Sc.) in Engineering/ Technology.

Candidates in the fourth or higher year of Five-year integrated master's degree programs or Dual Degree programs in Engineering/Technology.

Duration :

The examination is of 3 hours duration, and contains a total of 65 questions worth a maximum of 100 marks.

After Clearing the GATE Examination you may have the Following options to do that are as follow :

Pursue M.Tech/MSc from India or abroad.
Ican work as an assistant to professor for an year or two. This way you can get a really useful recommendation (LOR) necessary for pursuing higher studies abroad.
If your score is high, get into an IIM (Indian Institute of Management) B-school through GATE Score
You can teach at GATE coaching classes (Part-time or Full-time).
Go for recruitment in PSUs such as
BHEL
, IOC,
NTPC,
BPCL,
BARC,
HPCL,
etc.
