Coal India Limited is a Navratna Public Sector Undertaking under Ministry of Coal. It produces non-coking coal and coking coal from its 21 major coalfields in India. The prospects of CIL is very bright since the energy demands of our country is growing day by day to rapid industrialisation and urbanisation. Coal is a dominant energy source in the energy scenario.

Coal India alongwith its units account for nearly 82 percent of our nation's fuel production. A 29 percent increase in net income has been reported for the six months ending September 30.

Coal prices are set to rise in future because of growing demand and many environmental regulatory.

Coal India is also in talks for acquisition of mines in Australia, Indonesia and US to meet the country's demand.
