Jawaharlal Nehru University, also known as JNU, is a public central university in New Delhi, the capital of India.


It offers the language course in the French, German, Russian, Spanish, Chinese, Japanese, Persian and Arabic-the school offers under graduate, post-gratuate and research programmes focussing on languages, Literatures, translation, interpretation and culture studies.


Undergraduate Language Programs :

The Jawaharlal Nehru University holds an Entrance Examination for admission to various full – time Programs of study at around 34 Centres during May.

Foreign Language Courses in JNU :

B.A. Hons in Persian, Modern Arabic, Chinese, Japanese, Korean, French, German, Russian and Spanish ( with entry points both to 1st and 2nd year ).

Students successfully completing the BA Hons Program become eligible to seek registration to MA Program in the respective language.

Qualification for Foreign Language Courses :

First Year of 3 – year Bachelor’s degree Program :

Senior School Certificates ( 10+2 ) or equivalent examination with minimum of 45% marks. The candidates who are due to appear in Senior School Certificate ( 10+2 ) or equivalent examination are eligible to apply.

Minimum Age : 17 years as on 1st October.


Part – time Foreign Language Programs :

The Jawaharlal Nehru University also offers the following One – year ( Two semester ) Part – Time Foreign Language Programs of Study :
Advance Diploma of Proficiency in Portuguese.
Diploma of Proficiency in Italian, Portuguese, Pushtu & Bhasa Indonesia.
Certificate of Proficiency in Italian, Mongolian, Portuguese, Pushtu, Bhasa Indonesia & Urdu.
