About the exam:
On behalf of UGC, the Central Board of Secondary Education announces holding of the National Eligibility Test (NET) on 27th December, 2015 (SUNDAY) for determining the eligibility of Indian nationals for the Eligibility for Assistant Professor only or Junior Research Fellowship & Eligibility for Assistant Professor both in Indian universities and colleges.

Important dates:
Tentative Date of Single MCQ Exam: 19th June 2016
Online application starts from: 05th February 2016
Last date of online application: 01st March 2016
Last date of online payment of fee: 29th February 2016
Last date for receipt of application: 07th March 2016
Last date for receipt of application for remote area: 14th March 2016

Age limit and relaxation
For JRF (NET):
Maximum 28 years as on 01st July 2016 (Upper age limit may be relaxed up to 5 years in case of candidates belonging to SC/ST/OBC (Non-Creamy Layer)/ Physically Handicapped/Visually Handicapped and Female applicants)

For LS (NET):
No upper age limit

Application fees:
Rs. 1000/-
