MGR Government Film and Television Training Institute is an advanced Technical Training Institute and is run by the Government of Tamil Nadu.It is one of the three major institutes in India.


There are only 14 seats for every course in this institute. There is no information regarding admission for this year. You can check for admissions at it official website.

Three year diploma courses are offered in the following subjects:
Screenplay & Direction
Cinematography
Sound Recording and Sound Engineering
Film Editing
Film Processing
All the Diploma Courses offered are approved by the All India Council of Technical Education (AICTE), New Delhi.

Age limitations:-
The candidates must not be more than above 22 years of age on the 1st of July for Admission to all courses except Direction and Screen Play Writing Course. For SC/ST the age limit is 24 years on the mentioned date.

Eligibility:-
SC/ST candidates  mere passing in qualifying exams.
MBC/DT candidates  40% in qualifying exams
BC candidates  45% in qualifying exams
Open Competition candidates  50% in qualifying exams
Graduate degree from a recognised University.
