Duration : 4 Years

Eligibility : 10+2 in any discipline with minimum 50% marks

Course module-

Foundation Level

Fundamentals of Art and Design

In this module, students are introduced to a range of skills, techniques, methods, materials and technologies relevant to design development and communication. Students also explore the role of art and design in society and consider the wider social and ethical responsibilities of designers.

Basics of Design Development

The module focuses on furthering development of visual language and building student confidence through ‘out-of-the-box’ experimentation with the tools they have learned. Students also extend their understanding of social responsibility through focus on how cultural diversity impacts on design and design language.

Introduction to Design Tools & Techniques

This module incorporates greater complexity and integration of different design processes (e.g. design tools with elements of design), the added dimension of problem identification; and solution through innovation and creativity.

Design Process

The final foundation module, Design Process, is designed to ‘exit’ student with confidence in their ability to study design at degree level; it brings together all the learning of the year as students, within tight guidelines, plan and define their own project at this stage.

LEVEL 1

Fashion Studies I -

This module creates a strong foundation for students to understand design process by relating elements and principles of fashion design for actualization, visualization and presentation. The teaching modalities encourage the use of the virtual learning environment allowing for expanded understanding of the modern day fashion and industry environment and help prepare learners for the future work space and environment.
Fashion Studio I -
The module develops a strong foundation in pattern cutting, garment construction alongside draping, for further application in the forthcoming levels of the course. Students will learn the basic skills of design interpretation and three-dimensional realization, presentation of garment components and its fit and alteration.
Fashion Material -
This module will help students to understand fabric properties, structures and end users from the fashion point of view. It will also include exploration of surface ornamentation and embellishment using innovative techniques and finishes.
Visual Culture -
It will help fashion students to develop visual literacy and a range of critical approaches to interpret visual design language and its understanding in context to contemporary and historical fashion aspects.
Form Realization -
The module focuses on creative approaches to the production of contemporary fashion, and promotes innovative cutting and construction in the casual and street wear category.
The integrated nature of the module will enable students to apply and reflect on a creative design process encompassing all taught aspects of previous semester.

LEVEL 2 -

Fashion Studies II -

The module helps students to consolidate knowledge of current design trends, developments, historical and contemporary design issues, related to global and national markets in context to structured clothing.
Fashion Studio II -
This module focuses on creative approaches to pattern making and construction for 3 D realizations with a wider perspective to fashion.
Fashion Business and Entrepreneurship -
It provides students business platform to relate markets, retail environments, operation procedures, client requirements, trend and quality standards in professional practices within the fashion design industry.
Function and Detail -
It is an opportunity for students to work on a design brief addressing market requirements incorporating global trends. to further encourage autonomy, the module gives an option to choose an area of interest in structured garment categories and to apply advanced skills and knowledge of fashion materials and processes.
Overseas Credit Exchange -
It provides students with an opportunity to expand their understanding of global fashion in a cultural context. The module is an exposure to various work cultures & learning systems in a different institutional setting.
Long Industry Internship
This module is specially designed for those students who want a deeper experience in the organization & working of an industry. It enables students to take initiative, plan schedules, & negotiate their learning experiences by addressing their future career goals.
Industry Internship -
To expose the students to prevalent commercial and industrial practices and reinforce theoretical knowledge with practical experience. The module also focuses on developing students’ ability to work as an effective member of a team and to understand the pressures of a fast moving industry.
Domestic Credit Exchange/ Overseas Credit Exchange -
This optional module provides students with an opportunity to expand their understanding of global/ domestic fashion in a cultural context. It also provides them the exposure to various work cultures & learning systems in a different institutional setting.
Industry Project -
It is an optional module at this level where the students get exposure and experience in their area of interest (men’s, women’s or kid’s wear) by following a brief negotiated with industry.

LEVEL 3

Workshop 1 (Intra-disciplinary) -
This workshop in the beginning of level III enables students to challenge their existing skills and apply newly acquired skills in order to enhance their technical and creative thinking, within the design process.
Workshop 2 (Inter-disciplinary) -
This workshop aims to provide knowledge of trend spotting and analysis for fashion industry – both at national and international level. Students will gain insight into how to spot trends in local environment and see its connection to fashion market.
Final Design Project -
This project is the culmination of your personal ideas and investigation towards the realization of an original, creative and innovative body of work. It is an integrated learning of all modules across all levels of the course.
