Event management is about organising a professional and focused event for a target audience. It involves visualising concepts and planning, budgeting, organising and executing events such as fashion shows, musical concerts, corporate seminars, exhibitions, wedding celebrations, theme parties, product launches, among others.

This career does not require much investment and offers a huge canvas for creative expression

An event manager is responsible for marketing, designing the basic framework, hunting for sponsors, carrying out work on the logistics, locating destinations/Site, getting performers, booking the artistes, making arrangement for transport for different people and on the D’ Day plans, co-ordinates and finalizes every attribute of the event

A candidate can apply as event manager in companies such as Wizcraft, television channels such as Zee TV, coordinate fashion shows for event management companies such as Lakme and organize award ceremonies for magazines such as Filmfare.

Fashion industry, newspaper houses, Business Processing Outsourcing, the corporate sector, tourism, hotel industry and production houses are some of the sectors where there is requirement of an event manager.

As soon as an event manager gets substantial experience in this field, he or she can charge fees from Rs.50, 000 to Rs.1 lakh or even greater, depending on the client. In fact, event management is a multi-million dollar industry, which is growing at fast pace.
