The National Eligibility Test is conducted to select the candidates for the post of Assistant Professor and the award of Junior Research Fellowship.

The Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE) conducts the exam on behalf of the University Grants Commission (UGC).

Some of the most popular exams covered by CBSE other than UGC NET are - National Eligibility cum Entrance Test (NEET Exam), IIT JEE Main Exam, Central Teacher Eligibility Test (CTET Exam).

The CBSE UGC NET exam will be conducted on 8 July 2018 (Sunday) for which the UGC NET admit cards are proposed to be announced in the 3rd week of June 2018.

The detailed notification of the UGC NET exam was released on 23 February 2018.
