National Eligibility Test (NET) is conducted by The National Educational Testing Bureau of University Grants Commission (UGC) to determine eligibility for lectureship and for award of Junior Research Fellowship (JRF) in India. Eligibility: The applicant should have a Master degree or equivalent in related subjects. The candidate must have a minimum of 55% in this. The candidates appearing or have appeared for final year exams are also eligible. Age limit The candidates appearing for JRF should not be above 28 years of age. The candidates appearing only for lectureship have no upper age limit. Age relaxation of 5 years will be given to SC/ST/OBC or physically disabled or women or visually handicapped. Paper pattern Paper I- The first paper is all about general nature, intended to assess the teaching/research aptitude of the candidate. It is designed to check the test reasoning ability, comprehension, divergent thinking and general awareness. There are 60 objective type question candidates are needed to be solved only 50 questions that is depends on to the candidate choices. Paper II – Paper 2 is subjective type question paper. It shall consist of 50 objective type compulsory questions based on the subject selected by the candidate. The candidate will have to mark the responses for questions of Paper-I and Paper-II on the Optical Mark Reader (OMR) sheet provided along with the Test Booklet. Paper III – This paper is only descriptive type question paper. It will consist of 75 objective type compulsory questions from the subject selected by the candidate. Candidates are required to attempt questions in the space provided in the Test Booklet.
