Eligibility to Join NIFT

Will you tell me what I have to do after 10th if I want to join NIFT ?

NIFT is the entrance test for admission in good colleges for courses like :Fashion Design / Leather Design / Accessory Design / Textile Design / Knitwear Design / Fashion Communication.

For join bachelor program of through NIFT you have to clear 10+2 examination.

Eligibility Criteria for NIFT :

For Bachelors Programs:
Maximum age of the candidate should not exceed 23 years

Qualification :
Applicant must have passed 10+2 level examination from any Central/State Board of Examination.

Or

Applicant must hold 3-4 year Diploma recognized by AICTE or State Board of Technical Education (with engineering background).

Or

Applicant must be a pass grade in the Senior Secondary School Examination conducted by the National Open School with Physics, Chemistry and Mathematics among the five subjects.


NIFT Syllabus for General Ability Test (GAT) programs will consist of 5 sections:
Quantitative Ability
Communication Ability
English Comprehension
Analytical Ability
General Knowledge and Current Affairs


Quantitative Ability: This section will test students’ quantitative ability. It consists of questions on Addition, Multiplication, Division, Fractions, Rate of Interest, Percentage, Work and Task, Distance and Ratio and Proportion.

Communication Ability: The section will test candidates’ language ability in day to day communication in English. It comprises questions on synonyms, antonyms, words with corresponding meanings, , correct spellings, one word substitutes, singular, plural, idioms and phrases.

English Comprehension: This will test candidates’ ability to understand situation and basic English language.

Analytical Ability: The section will test inference and logic of the candidates from the given information.

General Knowledge and Current Affairs: This will test candidates’ awareness regarding the current affairs and general knowledge.

NIFT 2016 Eligibility for Bachelor Programs – Design – B.Des.
( Fashion Design / Leather Design / Accessory Design / Textile Design / Knitwear Design / Fashion Communication )

The +2 level examination in the 10+2 pattern of examination of any recognized Central / State Board of Secondary Examination, such as Central Board of Secondary Education / State Board New Delhi, and Council for Indian School of Certificate Examination, New Delhi. or

General Certificate Education ( GCE ) Examination ( London / Cambridge / Sri – Lanka ) at the Advanced (A) level / International Baccalaureate ( IB ). or
Any Public School / Board / University Examination in India or in Foreign countries recognized by the Association of Indian Universities as equivalent to 10+2 system. or

A pass grade in the Senior Secondary School Examination conducted by the National Open School with a minimum of five subjects. or
3 or 4-years diploma recognized by AICTE or a State Board of Technical Education.

NIFT 2016 Eligibility for Master Program – Design

M.Des ( Master of Design )
Undergraduate Degree from any Institute / University recognized by law in India or
Diploma in UG Design from NIFT / NID only.
Undergraduate Diploma of minimum three years duration from NIFT / NID.

Note : Design Space is an advanced course that demands an understanding of fundamentals in design and presupposes that candidates would be familiar with the basic skills and theories for successful completion of the program. M.Des. would not provide any basic knowledge and skill development in design as a part of Master program. The program provides an option to students to earn final semester credits through ‘Course Work’ or a ‘Dissertation’

M.F.M ( Master of Fashion Management )
Undergraduate Degree from any Institute / University recognized by law in India. or
Undergraduate Diploma of minimum three years duration from NIFT / NID.

NIFT 2016 Eligibility for Master Program – Technology

M.F.Tech. ( Master of Fashion Technology )
B.F.Tech. from NIFT or
B.E. / B.Tech. from any Institute / University recognized by law in India.
